Well, I finally did it. It's something I needed to do for well over a year now, but I'd been putting it off.
That's right, I bought a new computer. I finally had it with the constant crashes, glacially slow response of the old computer. But I shouldn't downgrade it that much. It served me well for SIX years, which is beyond geriatric in computer terms.
I also wanted to get something new before the old computer crashed completely and I could not retrieve my files from it. I made that mistake with the last computer I had. This computer is my third since 1998.
There will be a bit of a learning curve getting used to Windows Vista -- this came with the Vista Home Premium. It also has five times as much hard drive as the old computer did and will burn DVDs and CDs. I'm not a techie, so I've not explored what else is has. It has what I want it to do, so that's all that counts.
Right now, I'm waiting for Firefox to download, so I don't have to use IE -- I didn't realize how weird my blog looks in IE. Then I'll have to go around and recreate all my bookmarks and get things set up like I had them on the old computer -- only faster and more reliable.
I didn't need to spend the money, but I'm glad to have this computer. At least there will be a lot less cussing around here from now on.
I'm happy that you got a new computer W! I'm sure you'll enjoy using it so
much more than your older one.
Is that IE7, I only see a slight difference in resolution of the fonts.
Well, that answers my last question!
Yeee Haaa! I missed this earlier! Hearty congratulations. I highly
recommend tabbed browsing using Firefox. It rocks. No more multiple
windows. :)
