My primary lover is going to spend a month up north with her parents. So, yesterday, we spent an extended period of time saying goodbye to one another.
We got rather busy and I never got around to writing in here. (I'm cheating by backdating this entry). As well as doing the expected thing, we went to the bookstore, then out to eat. Both stops were disappointing.
At the bookstore, I looked for a new Deep Space Nine book, A Fearful Symmetry, which was released a week ago and I'd been anticipating for months. They didn't have it. Of course. When I asked about it, I was told they didn't plan to carry it.
This is the same bookstore that a couple of months ago told me that their manager had decided to carry Book 1 and Book 3, but not Book 2, of the Deep Space Nine trilogy, Terok Nor. WTF? What in hell is the point of carrying the first and last books of a trilogy and not to carry the second. They might as well have not carried any of the books if that was what they were going to do. When I pointed this out to the clerk yesterday and she said the stocking decisions were the "manager's decision", I said they might need to make a decision to get a new manager.
We're getting a Barnes and Noble here soon and it's about damn time. Perhaps their management won't make such nonsensical decisions about what to stock.
After leaving the bookstore empty-handed, we went over to Zaxby's, as I had a taste for the chicken fingers menu. I pulled into the drive-through and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, I drove up to the window and saw it was closed. At three in the afternoon. I drove up a little more and the dining room was empty and barren, with ladders and drop cloths all about. Closed for remodeling, then. I guess I just didn't pay any attention when there were no cars in the parking lot when I pulled in.
