Everyone is wearing a hat, and there are no cars parked.
If that were my home town of Steubenville Ohio, the difference would be
that in this picture there are people on the streets. In my hometown, as
in many small towns, the streets are empty.
I was going for the hats angle. Lack of cars was an expected technological
difference, but the mass conformity and uniformity of everyone wearing
hats, without exception just boggled my mind.
I like hats. My son often wears them. He has one fedora for his debate
suit and another for jeans, along with an Irish driver's cap. The school
doesn't allow them, but he likes to wear them otherwise.
